Conference Theme

Today, we are observing some of the most rapid and dynamic changes our world economy has ever experienced. Commerce as a function of society continues to follow the trends of both globalization and diversification. Within these newly emerging global structures, business communication has proven to be even more critical to realizing the coexistence and co-prosperity of all nations.

The art of business communication, much like Zen, is best practiced when simple, clear and focused. As Zen is about being present in the moment and free of distracting thoughts, so also is effective business communication. This Zen-like philosophy of simplicity and efficiency has been successfully adapted to the business practices of many modern organizations.

Doshisha University, as host of ABC Asia-Pacific 2013, is located in the heart of Kyoto, Japan, next to the venerable Shokokuji-Temple where the Zen spirit has been preserved and nurtured through past generations. Why not visit this ancient capital, feel the spirit of Zen and seek the ultimate art of business communication with fellow members?
